Comments:
Line-up now confirmed.
Ricky Ashworth in for Compton and Danny King in for Hansen.
Heat 1: McConnell having bike problems and replaced by Jack Roberts. Ashworth gated ahead and Legault passed him on the third lap.
Heat 2: Smart had an engine failure and retired.
Heat 3: Lyons passed Birkenshaw to get the point for third.
There will now be a short break before Heat 5
Heat 5: Hargreaves tailed off at back with an engine failure.
Heat 6: Johnno unchallenged after the first bend.
Heat 7: Morris led for the first lap and half before Lyons went underneath him. Good battle between Nieminen and McConnell, Nieminen getting the better of McConnell after 3 and a half laps and just a bike length ahead as they came over the line.
Heat 8: King was well clear and looked very smooth and fast.
Heat 9: Hargreaves retired with an engine failure on lap 1.
Heat 10: Unsatisfactory start, all four back. Action packed race! Ostergaard chasing Legault hard only for him to go too wide on bend and almost scrape the air fence, this allowed Howe through underneath who then gave chase to Legault who he passed on the line. First announcement was that Legault had won the race only for the referree (who is Tony Steele) to correct the result.
Heat 11: Johnno flew from the gates and won by quite some distance. Smart and McConnell swapped places for the first two laps before Smart pulled away.
Heat 12: Roynon tailed Ashworth for a number of laps before passing him just before the line.
Heat 12 and a half! Match race took place between the two track reserves and Roberts beat Lowe (N/T)
Heat 13: Even break with front three very tight on first turn. Johnno went round the outside of Ostergaard and Morris and then won convincingly, others quite strung out. Hargreaves retired on first lap.
Heat 15: King challenged Howe for the first two laps before Howe pulled away.
Heat 16: Ashworth in 2nd place and Tomicek came under him cleanly, but quite aggressively between bends 2 and 3 to take second place.
SHORT INTERVAL NOW (Im hoping for a long one as I can hardly keep up! LoL)
Another match race in the interval, with the same result Roberts from Lowe. Time was 61.4
Main event about to recommence!
Heat 17: Hargreaves made 3 laps before retiring - its not his night!
Heat 18: King was very fast and a long way in front.
Heat 19: Tomicek had an engine failure on the 2nd lap.
Heat 20: Even break with a tight first bend, Howe went around the outside and pulled away for a comfortable win.
Heat 21 will be a race off for 2nd place between Johnston and King
Johnno led King for a couple of laps before King went on to win the race and secure 2nd place in the meeting.
Congratulations to David Howe.
