Heat Results
Heat 01: Riss, Howarth, Sayfutdinov, Fricke 2-4
Line Up: Fricke, Howarth, Sayfutdinov, Riss
Comments: FTG - although on the last lap, when Sayfutdinov forced inside Howarth on Bead 2, but Howarth managed to keep his wheels in line and rode an excellent final two bends to hold off the Witches #1. Riss never troubled out front, and Fricke never any trouble at the back.
Supported by Maitland Travel www.maitlandtravel.co.uk - providers of Speedway Holidays and bespoke travel all over the world
Heat 02: Rew, Newman, Edwards, Thompson 3-3 (5-7)
Line Up: Newman, Edwards, Rew, Thompson
Comments: Rew held speed well off Gate 2 to lead down back straight. Thompson did really well to hold off faster Edwards for three laps, but Edwards got past him off Bend 2 last lap.
Supported by Friends Of Steve Casey - Always An Ace
Heat 03: Holder, King, Pickering, Hume 4-2 (9-9)
Line Up: Holder, Pickering, King, Hume
Comments: King held the lead, and also held off Holder well for a couple of laps, but Holder was much faster and cut back to move under King off B4 L3. King didn't really look like knew Holder was there. Pickering buzzing behind them, but Hume way adrift (from the first bend).
Supported by andout www.canadianspeedway.com
Heat 04: Rew, Doyle, Musielak, Edwards 1-5 (10-14)
Line Up: Musielak, Edwards, Doyle,Thompson Rew
Comments: Reserve switch by Witches. Witches quick away, and Doyle switched to inside on Bend 4 to block Musielak. Doyle clearly faster than Rew, and almost ran into him on top of Bend 3/4 Lap 2! Musielak couldn't find a gap.
Supported by Friends of Edinburgh Speedway www.foes.info/
Ian Brannan talking to Eric Boocock, although very quiet. I heard Boocock say "track's a bit dry, don't know if they're going to water it, or if they're relying on nature".
Interview in the BSN Booth with Keynan Rew - "the track's a bit different to last time I was here, going well".
Heat 05: Holder, Pickering, Riss, Sayfutdinov 5-1 (15-15)
Line Up: Holder, Pickering, Sayfutdinov, Riss
Comments: Sayfutdinov very slow from the start and Pickering soon accounted for Riss on the first lap for a comfortable Tigers max.

Rain falling, although it looks like a shower. Riders gardening for Heat 6.
Heat 06: Howarth, Doyle, Fricke, Rew (Ret) 4-2 (19-17)
Line Up: Fricke, Howarth, Doyle, Rew
Comments: Doyle fastest away in the rain, but Howarth flew around the outside to take the lead. Doyle tried to get close - Howarth riding the widest line we've seen so far and held it really well. Rew disappeared during the race.

Heat 08: (Re-run) Howarth, Riss, Edwards, Thompson 4-2 (27-21)
Line Up: Howarth, Edwards, Riss, Thompson
Comments: STOPPED: Howarth moving at start. All 4 back, even though Howarth penalised himself. Howarth gets a warning.
Re-start: STOPPED: Another untidy start. Riss trying to get across from 4, while Howarth staying wide off 3 ... Howarth collects Riss into the first bend fence. Riss up and walking. Howarth still sitting by the airfence, although chatting. Both bikes looked to have sustained damage to wheels at least. Replay shows Howarth's front wheel caught in Riss' footrest. Howarth fell immediately, momentum carrying them to the fence - Riss pitched over into the airfence and as he bounces off, his bike thumps into his head.
All 4 back. Lots of work going on in the pits to get machines ready for the re-start. Chris Louis confirmed that Riss took a hefty bang, but should be OK to continue. Louis unhappy that first attempt was called back, considering Howarth penalised himself.
20:15 Riders gardening for restart. Edwards fast away, and Howarth joined him, but then abandoned him by racing off in to the distance. Edwards under pressure from Riss lifts coming off Bend 2, and Riss takes advantage.

Heat 09: (Re-run) Pickering, Doyle, Holder, Rew (FX) 4-2 (31-23)
Line Up: Holder, Pickering, Doyle, Rew
Comments: STOPPED: Doyle quickly away, and headed straight for the wide line. Holder came underneath him off Bend 2 to lead. Rew chasing Pickering gave it a big handful on Lap 2 Bend 3, and launched into the airfence, coming to a sudden stop. Rew excluded. Airbag deflated, so needs to be replaced. Musielak came over to see Rew, who gets to his feet and is walking back to the pits.
20:30 Riders gardening.
Re-run: Pickering emerged from Bend 2 in lead and never challenged, despite Doyle trying different lines. Similar for Holder who didn't challenge Doyle.

Hayley Bromley talking to Max Fricke: "A tough start for me, haven't got away well so far. Season now done for me here, just a couple of GPs. I feel that I'm growing as a rider, the GPs have been a big learning curve."
Heat 10: King, Howarth, Fricke, Hume 3-3 (34-26)
Line Up: Fricke, Howarth, King, Hume
Comments: King comes to life with an excellent ride to pass Howarth off Bend 4 Lap 2, when it looked as though Howarth was in command way out wide.

Heat 11: Sayfutdinov, Musielak, Riss, Newman 4-2 (36-30)
Line Up: Musielak, Newman, Sayfutdinov, Riss
Comments: Sayfutdinov comes to life! Close first lap, with Riss trying to find a way outside Musielak, who was behind Sayfutdinov, but it soon settled down, and they were all very spaced out at the end.
Supported by STEVE REED says "NHS SCREENING COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE"
Riss in the BSN Booth: "I think Howarth picked up some grip and hit me. Getting hit on the head isn't good, but it hasn't affected the problems I had earlier this year".

Line Up: Holder, Edwards, King, Rew
Comments: 20:45 lots of gardening. Superb start by King off 3, and leads throughout. Holder close, but couldn't force a gap. Meanwhile, Edwards rides well to keep Rew at the back.

Line Up: Fricke, Musielak, Sayfutdinov, Doyle
Comments: Tigers ahead on the first lap. Doyle ran into Fricke's back wheel going into Bend 3! Doyle passes Fricke, who then cuts back to pass Doyle, but Doyle clamps Fricke in to Ben3 Lap 2, and Sayfutdinov flies around the outside of both of them along home straight. Doyle and Fricke swap places once more. Great race! BTW: Musielak a mile ahead.
Supported by Vin's Ices @ Sheffield Speedway- the best ice cream in British speedway!
Heat 14: Pickering, Hume, Newman, Thompson 4-2 (46-38)
Line Up: Pickering, Newman, Hume, Thompson
Comments: Fast start by Newman, with Pickering flying round the outside. Hume worked really hard to put pressure on Newman, went into B3, L3 wide, but cut back to pass him off B4 and gain an important extra point for the Witches. Big error by Newman on B2 last lap, but Thompson couldn't take advantage.

Howarth tossed the coin - King called Tails and it came down Heads. Howarth opts for 2&4 in Heat 1.
Musielak doing the track walk with Roynon - says he's not concerned by a little bit of rain. Reckons that Gates 1 & 4 are best, although last week 3 was good. Prefers slick starts! First bend looking slick tonight, because it's a bit wet. At Sheffield it's always the same, there's more dirt on the outside during the meeting. I haven't really changed my set-up for Sheffield this season.
