19:52 Harrold talking to Jake Allen: Sedgy got us off to a great start. Drew made a quick start in Heat 2, and I was happy to sit in behind him. I'm not out again until Heat 7, so I'll keep an eye on any changes that might need to be made. Happy with the weather! Good to be racing in both leagues, after breaking scaphoid last year - injury can play on your mind. I'll keep chipping away, going steady, and finish the year all guns blazing.
Track grading. Tractor going into pits at 19:58.
Heat 05: Doyle, Harris, Barker, Lawson 2-4, 18-12
Line Up: Lawson, Harris, Doyle, Barker
Comments: Lions gate, but Doyle cuts back to come through into the lead off bend 2. Lawson lifted, slightly impeding Harris, and Barker crept through into 2nd. Harris passed Barker off the 4th bend Lap 1. Lawson never challenged Barker.
Supported by Rails of Sheffield
Heat 06: Fricke, Sayfutdinov, Sedgmen, Thompson, Hume (XT) 4-2, 22-14
Line Up: Fricke, Sedgmen, Sayfutdinov,Hume Thompson
Comments: Stopped - Hume accelerates into the tapes which break - Hume excluded. Harrold with Hume in BSN booth - Sedgy had a nibble, but it is what it is. Not going off 15 metres - it's a bit slick.
Re-run: Fricke quickly away. Thompson makes a good start and is outside Sayfutdinov going into B3 L1, but can't hold the place with Sedgmen coming under him off fourth bend.

Heat 07: Morris, Allen, Rew, King (FX) 5-1, 27-15
Line Up: Morris, Allen, King, Rew
Comments: Entertaining race, with Lions leading and "sort of" team riding - Morris on the inside, Allen outside, but for the first couple of laps Morris was riding mid track, so Allen had to go high and wide, with King challenging on the white line. Going into B1 L3, Morris this time cut across to the white line and clamped King who slid off. Race stopped and awarded.

20:15 Tractor racing. Harrold speaking to Harris - happy with the scoreline, and fairly happy with myself, although Richie had a problem. Saw him out of the corner of my eye, and thought this could be awkward, and Jason managed to get past. Couldn't afford to let Ben beat me on my home track! In the last heat, I think Danny felt Nick had turned left on him, but Nick was defending his line with Jake. Very happy with starts the team is making.
20:23 Heat 8 about to start.
Heat 08: Kemp, Sedgmen, Thompson, Barker (FX) 5-1, 32-16
Line Up: Sedgmen, Kemp, Barker, Thompson

Heat 10: Fricke, Rew, Sedgmen, King 4-2, 39-21
Line Up: Fricke, Sedgmen, King, Rew
Comments: Rew started quickly, but went very, very wide bend 2 and Fricke got his wheels in line much more quickly to en=merge in first. King nowhere, also trying the non-existent outside line.

Heat 11: Sayfutdinov, Doyle, Morris, Allen 1-5, 40-26

Comments: T/S for the Witches. Morris gated, the Witches came through into 2nd and 3rd. At end of L1, Sayfutdinov cut back on 4th bend, and rode hard under Morris going into first bend of L2, carrying him to the gap where the pits entrance is! Doyle gratefully filled the large space on the inside, with Sayfutdinov waving his right arm for Doyle to join him on back straight.

Jason Harrold with Dickson in BSN booth. Difficult to get watering right, without damaging track by putting too much on before the meeting. Harrold: were you surprised the Tactical didn't come earlier? Dickson: I don't know what's going on in their pits, but we normally like to get the tactical in earlier. They've got those two in 13 & 15, so we need to keep on it. Very happy with Drew Kemp.
20:48 - Tractor racing, and sun is quite low on third bend - so it's INTERVAL time.
Harrold is with Ritchie Hawkins: not a great night at the office. Need Danny and Keynan in 12 & 14, to back up Emil & Doyley. We've used T/S in Heat 9 before, but with Danyon breaking the tapes, he would have gone Heat 2 to heat 12 without riding which isn't easy - and we need him to score points, so decided to give him the ride.
20:59 Heat 12
Heat 12: King, Lawson, Hume, Kemp 2-4, 42-30
Line Up: Lawson, Kemp, King, Hume
Comments: King dominated first bend off Gate 3. Hume held inside line and was able to hold off Kemp over the first lasp and a half.
Supported by Speedway Fantasy League - www.speedwayleague.net
Heat 13: (Re-run) Sayfutdinov, Fricke, Morris, Doyle (X) 3-3, 45-33
Line Up: Fricke, Morris, Doyle, Sayfutdinov
Comments: Stopped: Lions quickly away and team riding well until third lap, when Morris was adrift on Fricke on the outside. Doyle came under him B3 L3, but clipped Morris's front wheel with his direct deflector, both falling. Doyle excluded. Gay decided Sayfutdinov was still in contention, so decides on a re-run.
Re-run: Lions gated, but Sayfutdinov drove between them off Bend 2 and raced into the sunset.
Supported by Vin's Ices @ Sheffield Speedway- the best ice cream in British speedway!
Heat 14: Allen, Harris, Hume, Rew 5-1, 50-34
Line Up: Harris, Allen, Rew,Thompson Hume
Comments: Reserve switch by the Witches. Great start by Allen, Harris came between the Witches and did enough work on B3/4, L1 to move into second.
Supported by The Speedway Updates Team who have Dedicated this Heat in Memory of the Voice of Speedway: Nigel Pearson (1970-2022)
Heat 15: Sayfutdinov, Fricke, King, Sedgmen 2-4, 52-38
Line-up: Sedgmen, Fricke, King, Sayfutdinov
Comments: Lions in 1&3. Hawkins said with match and BP lost, and Doyle having just fallen, no need for him to ride.
Great start by the Witches! King didn't look comfortable on B4 L1, almost getting in Sayfutdinov's way. Sayfutdinov repaid the compliment at speed on B4, L2, so King had to put the brakes on and Fricke was able to get under him.

Sayfutdinov in BSN booth (excellent English): "Really happy about this track and my bike, everything working really well. Not a good result for the team, so we will need to talk about that. As Max said, you need to learn the tracks and find the right set-ups." Jason Harrold: Do you feel the pressure to score lots of points? Sayfutdinov: "For sure I do as a professional rider I want to score big points for my teams. I'm gaining experience of different tracks - of course there's always pressure. I flew into Luton from Poznan this morning, and fly out again tomorrow! Thanks to everyone for watching on BSN - have a nice night!"

BSN broadcast has begun, with Ian Brannan confirming the line-ups, and discussing with Lee Kilby. Sunny and 16C. Extra water has been put on the track to try to keep the dust down.
Harris and King chatting with Jason Harrold. Coin toss is won by Ipswich, and King chooses 1&3 in Heat 1.
Jason Harrold doing the track walk with Max Fricke. Harrold: What's it like moving here from Belle Vue? Fricke: Settling in, learning the track and how it changes during the meeting. The track is the best that I've seen - they've done a lot of work on the track over the years and it's paid off. Today is one of the hotter days we've had here, so we'll see what effect that has on the track. I'm sure they'll be pumping plenty of water on it. Harrold: How do bends 3&4 differ from 1&2? Fricke: 1&2 are more banked, and there's a bit of adverse camber on 3&4. Harrold: Do you speak to Stewart Dickson about what you want done to the track? Fricke: Yes, we talk about what we like, and what we would like to see. Still learning the track, and it's been good - our results show that. Finally a quick chat about the GP, but Fricke didn't say anything interesting.
