Max Fricke is the defending champion of 2 years and 11 months after winning the most recent version of the title held in January 2020. The new champion will hold the title for four weeks before the 2023 title is run in January over the normal multiple round series.

Heat 16. Keleher, Pearson, West, Rew Fx
Rerun. Rew found himself caught out very wide going into turn 1 the first time, found some loose stuff, and came unstuck. In the rerun Keleher and Pearson were swapping the lead for fun. Great race.
Heat 17. Fricke, Rew, Cook, Brown
Rew had a big nibble up the inside of Fricke on the back straight of lap 1 and looked half a chance of getting by but Fricke resumed normal service shortly after that.
Heat 18. Zischke, Pearson, Turner, Lidsey NS
Rerun. The first time of asking Turner (white) was the meat in a Zischke (blue) and Lidsey (yellow) sandwich. Later confirmed that Lidsey has suffered a broken wrist that will require surgery.

Zischke did well for a couple of laps and just when I thought Fricke was going to settle for second he dug into his box of tricks and went round Zischke at the start of the last lap. Race of the night.
Semi final 2
Sedgmen, Rew, Bowes, Cook
Final
Fricke, Sedgmen, Zischke, Rew
All four nearly side by side entering the back straight but once Fricke got his wheels in line he powered away. Fricke rather easily in the end. An unfortunate incident after the race, on the slow down lap Zischke caught the back of Sedgmen's bike and came off and copped a nasty blow to the head that earned him a trip to hospital. Zischke was not able to take his place for the presentations. Nothing broken, scans are all clear but Zischke was suffering from a large headache and couldn't remember competing in the final and had to be reassured he actually did finish third in an Australian Championship.
