Heat 1. Zischke, Ryan, Hamilton, Pedler
Ryan & Hamilton swapped places on lap 2
Heat 2. Bowes, Rogerson, Pearson, McDiarmid
Rerun. 1st time out Bowes from gate 3 lifted in turn 1 and collected Pearson who was from gate 4. Both down, and the Bowes bike flew over the fence but caught by the safety fence. Pearson not impressed, Bowes rather fortunate that all four back was called.
Heat 3 Rew, Hook, May, West Fx
Rerun. First time out West came off exiting turn 4 when in third. Interesting rerun, Rew went from 2nd to 1st on lap 1, Hook went from 1st to 2nd to 3rd to 2nd, and May went from 3rd to 2nd to 3rd. Lots happening.
Heat 4. Brown, Hayes, Dixon, Milner Ex tapes
Brown got by Hayes on lap 2
Heat 5. Rew, Rogerson, Zischke, Milner
Heat 6. Hook, Bowes, Hamilton, Dixon
Bowes & Hamilton swapped places on lap 2
Heat 7. West, McDiarmid, Pedler, Hayes Fx
Rerun. West led early but nearly came off again exiting turn 4 but somehow stayed on. West dropped back to second but had enough time left to regain the lead.
Heat 8. Pearson, May, Brown, Ryan
May inside Brown to gain a place on lap 2
Heat 9. Zischke, Bowes, Brown, West
Bowes led nearly all the way but Zischke bravely kept nipping away at Bowes heels and got by on the last couple of bends
Heat 10. May, Rogerson, Hamilton, Hayes
Heat 11. Rew, Pearson, Dixon, Pedler
Heat 12. Hook, Milner, McDiarmid, Ryan NS
Heat 13. Zischke, McDiarmid, Dixon, May ret
May's bike gave a good impression of the chimney of a coal fired power station causing him to retire
Heat 14. Pearson, West, Hamilton, Milner
West was on Pearsons back wheel lots of the way and West tried a desperate lunge at the tapes that must have only failed by a few inches.
Heat 15. Hook, Brown, Rogerson, Pedler
Brown lifted badly and did a good job to both stay on and to keep the bike moving forward.
Heat 16. Rew, Bowes, Hayes, Ryan Ret
Heat 17. Zischke, Pearson, Hook, Hayes
Zischke & Pearson swapped the lead a couple of times. I'd not seen Zischke before, very impressive
Heat 18. Rew, Brown, Hamilton, McDiarmid Ret
Nobody was getting anywhere near Rew
Heat 19. May, Bowes, Pedler, Milner Fx
Rerun. Milner had a nasty looking off on the back straight but was soon up and walking back to the pits.
Heat 20. West, Rogerson, Ryan, Dixon Ret
West snuck by Rogerson on lap 3. A few rough edges but West is quick when he gets it right.
Semi Final. Pearson, Bowes, Brown, May
Final. Rew, Zischke, Pearson, Hook.
Any other winner would have been a travesty. Rew was on a different level all meeting. Zischke certainly one to watch.
Placings for the Under 16 250 ccc title
1st - Mitchell McDiarmid
2nd - Beau Bailey
3rd - Alexander Adamson
4th - Noah Grabham
McDiarmid had come through the semi final path and only took the lead on the last couple of bends from Ashley Jensen-Batchelor in that race so he was cutting it fine. Bailey unbeaten in the heats but didn't get a good start in the final. While the others had their eyes on Bailey, McDiarmid went unnoticed and cruised round the outside from gate 4 to tale the lead. Bailey fought back to get up to second but had left himself too much to do.
